Just the highlights

A week in the life:

~ Emie started Kindergarten! She was so ready. I was not. I'm reasonably sure I was the only one with any butterflies on day one. She loves her teacher, the school, and the bus ride there and back. There's nothing like turning the care of your little one over to someone else for a time, a season. Here's to the next twelve years and beyond! So happy with the school's warm philosophy, welcoming ways, and small class sizes. So good for everyone, even me:)

~ Ainsley decided to swallow Emie's "Worry Rock" a gift given to her by her kindergartner to use if she ever felt nervous. Guess Ainsley figured we're not big on worry around here so she may as well put it somewhere unreachable. Though the doctors gave us some spiffy rubber gloves to go looking for it after a fiber-filled meal.

~ Emie, in an effort to get Ainsley to come inside (as I'd asked her to do) told her a fib that her little friend from down the street was coming over for a visit. I told Emie that was untrue and we don't lie even if it's to try to get someone to do something they were asked to do.

~ Overhear Emie say, as she knelt down next to her sister in the house, "Ainsley, I did a lie. Do you know what that is? It's when you say something untrue and it's bad to do. I'm so sorry. Would you please forgive me?"

~ Hear Ainsley reply, "I give you, 'course I do."

~ Later hear the sound of a flush and the proud report from Ainsley, "I go big potty!"

~ Wonder if Mr. Worry Rock is out to sea and furthermore if there isn't a life lesson here somewhere in the mix.

~ Marvel at the blessings in my life and how it's possible that I get to raise up these beautiful girls day after day.

  1. I love your beautiful attitude about whatever life throws at you and that you love your mom "job" even when tested.

Emie may be at school during the day but you still have a much bigger influence on who she will become.

    Hugs to all of you!
