About Me

I'm so glad you're here! I'm Melinda and I will follow any sign that leads to the promise of vintage décor and repurposed treasures. As a wife and mom to two dear daughters, my home is filled with equal measures of sugar, spice, and crumbs. I cannot be trusted with chocolate chip cookie dough and am addicted to spicy chai and 70s classic rock. I also love kindness and Jesus and am glad they’re meant to come as a package deal.

I want to be all in right here, right now. I love Jim Elliot's quote, "Wherever you are, be all there."

I think we all really want this, to not miss the good stuff, and yet there's an awful lot of rushing pressed into every day. I've done my share of hurrying, but I don't do it anymore. I still manage to show up on time everywhere I need or want to go (smile), but I don't rush through the moments anymore.

There are certainly seasons that I waved gleefully to from the rear view mirror. They couldn't pass quickly enough. But I found that on those long, winding, and often painful roads, there was always something lovely to behold along the way.

I love this verse:

Another version says to "dwell on these things," to find the lovely, and dwell there. I love the invitation not to miss the beauty in the everyday moments. I've lived long enough to realize that the ordinary things aren't ordinary at all. These are the sacred moments that we surely don't want to miss because we're wishing for the "next best thing" or fearing some foreboding "what if."

I write. I love words.

Creating or reading the most beautifully crafted sentence can make my entire day. Written words are something I've cherished for as long as I can remember. I've written since I was a little girl. Most of my writing has been confined to small, fluffy diaries, Mead notebooks, and pretty journals, and more recently, right here on the web. All I know is that wherever the words land, they have been my favorite friend, my best expression of myself, and the channel through which I tell stories of love and laughter.

This blog came about a few years ago and began as a place to chronicle all of the things my daughters were doing and learning that the grandmas at Target told me to be sure to write down.  It didn't take long to see that what I was writing was a lot less about what the little lovies were learning and so much more about what they were teaching me.

This domain has since evolved into a place for us to meet and navigate the right here and now together.

I hope you'll stay as long as you like, follow me, or subscribe at the top of the sidebar to be sure you don't miss anything.

In the meantime, here's to savoring the present and whatever is lovely.

Here are some of my favorite posts that will give you a little flavor of my style and my blog:
